“Hold our Ground” series

The "Hold Our Ground" film series highlights the challenges facing Colorado's agricultural community and showcases the innovative work of producers who engage in soil health practices to create more resilient agricultural systems. Our goal is to inspire producers to engage in soil health practices and educate the public about the importance of conservation agriculture.

Hold Our Ground is a CSU Center for Science Communication film series focusing on the challenge of Colorado farmers as they negotiate the changing soil and weather conditions impacting their growing seasons. This program is called “Farmers on Soil Health”.

Documentary filmmaker Jaime Jacobsen, led a team of fellow faculty and graduate students including Rhea Maze, Eric Forbes, Matt Ross, Hannah Tran and Russick Smith.

“Ranchers on Soil Health” profiles Colorado ranchers George Whitten, Julie Sullivan, Mike Peterson, Nancy Roberts, Nick Charchalis, and Donald Valdez as they work to improve the health and resiliency of their soils and ranches.

“Beyond the Soil” is a short, poetic documentary which explores the emotional impact of climate change on farmers and ranchers who are on the frontlines of Colorado's megadrought in the Rocky Mountain West.
